Moments

I'm blessed. I knew this. I have just been reminded of it.

I am also a terrible terrible cat owner who doesn't love them, and never pets them, and absolutely sta-a-a-arves them, and doesn't deserve their wonderful company. Just ask. They'll tell you.

Pah. I need to go hang out at the Engine, and ask stupid newbie questions. Go me.

Why on earth do spices come in those plastic sachets that are at least twice as large as most spice jars? I mean, what are you supposed to do with the extra? (Answer: put them in the freezer, they'll keep better.)

Nonetheless, spice jars are cheap at the bulk barn, and much neater than resealed plastic. Also, I had enough labels to label the top of the jars, which is handy since my spice rack is currently a large tupperware container, and all you can really see are the lids.

(I would like a real spice rack. The logistics of where to put it are awkward, though.)

No, it's pale--kind of ivory, like something you'd get if you mixed two parts white flour to one part ground mustard.

The smell is odd; a little bit like bread, and when I kept sniffing, there was this kind of onion-y sharpness in the back of my nose. (Could it be very very old powdered garlic? It didn't seem nearly strong enough for that...)

Actually, that sounds about right.
Possibly very old onion powder?
(I think it's a bit more yellow than garlic powder, and it would explain the oniony smell).

Saw V for Vendeta last night.
Quite enjoyed it. (Have never read the comic book, so no worries on that count. ;-)
My fiance is ambivalent about it. :-)
