There actually is a pattern I kind of like for a wedding dress. And Vogue just started carrying those patterns, which means they have a decent English site now.
On the page, below the warning about how they are for expert sewers only and to the left of the advisory that they do not contain sizing lines but only single-size pieces, is the notation that they
Do not have cutting layouts
Do not have seam allowances
Do not have hem allowances
Do not have instructions for assembly
...motheragod. I mean, I was never quite mad enough to consider sewing my own, but I am just kind ofsewn thrown for a loop at the sheer skill they assume you have.
(There are some patterns where I have not needed to bother with the instructions. I don't think this would be one of them. I am suspecting that they might still write the number of pieces you need and indicators of where seams are to be joined on the pattern pieces, but I am by no means sure.)
I am starting to feel bad for the tailor.
