I really do like MAC's annual Hallowe'en looks. Particularly Design Cult, under Blanc et Noir. Very much the sort of thing I associate with "does it look pretty" rather than "does it look good on me"; it'd look great in the right photo shoot, I'm sure, but I can't imagine wearing it.

Then again, it *is* for Hallowe'en.

It's really being odd at work. I can't remember if I stayed home last Friday or the one before--I'm sure it was the one before, but I don't *remember*. And I completely forgot whether I relayed a message to my boss yesterday (I did; that's not the point). I need to start getting more sleep on weeknights.

(Still not hating the job.)

Am probably going to be going from one LARP session a month to three games a week in a couple of weeks, one of which I will be running. That one's strictly a short-term thing--I'm really expecting it to go about three sessions--but it's still enough to leave me wondering what the hell I think I'm doing.

Reading Robert Jordan's The Eye of the World. I can see where it's coming from[1], but the characters are distinct and different without being caricatures and everyone seems pretty reasonable based on where you can figure they're coming from. This is mercifully different from them all being likeable or cooperative[2], but it does contribute hugely to the plausibility of the setting. I'm not sure if I'd've liked it more or less if I was reading it without knowing what was going to happen.

But Rand and Mat have just gotten to Four Kings, and I had to put the book down because they've basically come to the town that Jack almost gets stuck in in The Talisman, the place that's described as a pitcher plant, and trying to remember what that place was called is bugging me so much I can't keep reading.

(Oatley. Right.)

Decent description. It takes Jordan a page to set out Four Kings, and he does it beautifully; it's a grimy, crude, miserable, busy place.

[1] Tolkein, mostly.
[2] Blasted Whitecloaks. I *liked* Hopper, I thought he was sweet.

Y'know, shlock month is on over at The Wraith Project. You can't see the label "S. Haigh" on the ashtray the guy in the background is smoking, but I think everything else is visible. And yes, the shirt says "I drew more dots than you."
