(jobnotes)
Nov. 1st, 2006 06:00 pmGot tested on my French speaking proficiency, and got the results; cleared a C level. (Grading runs A, B, C, P, in increasing order of proficiency.) The six-month contract I'm applying for only requires a B. Have also been promised notes on what to brush up on if I want to get my P level, and evade further testing (vocabulary, probably).
(In giddy assurance of passing, also splurged madly on a pin with a peacock feather. Very deep warm true colours, very beautiful. Not exactly unfragile, but nothing gold can stay.)
(Ran around doing errands, and discovered the great virtue of Walmart's pricing on necessities.)
Came home at 5:00 to find a message from the temp agency, and was able to catch the handler before she left for the day. Having my resumé submitted for a one- or two-day formatting job on something described as a "huge document". That would make me extraordinarily happy. I *like* formatting and editing for much the same reason I like invoice chasing and account-balancing; easy, obvious, quantifiable, satisfying.
(Also, Hallowe'en involved Pirates of the Caribbean, a little gamer geeking, and the conclusion that the deck with the New York skyline on back of it hates hates hates my huckster's guts, as I think I was pulling a black joker one time out of three. Very low-key, which suited the 8:40 a.m. language test today.)
So yeah. Overall I would say I've had more job-acquiring and -satisfying stuff gotten done today, on my first day of unemployment, than in the last couple of weeks.
(Along with the fact that this month's rent is already paid, this probably explains why I'm not doing the OhMyGodI'mUnemployed freakout. Pleasant sensation.)
