Yesterday I was in the office until 5:30, editing a document that had to go out today.

Today I came in and found that all changes had not been saved--my screwup entirely, I admit. So I re-edited, made additional changes, collated numbered binders of documents, and got the right ones out to the right people.

Also picked up the person who's interviewing for my old position when she showed up early because my first replacement told us last week (Wednesday? Tuesday? It's all been kind of a blur) that she'd found a permanent job so we need a replacement for my replacement. Then the person interviewing her was a little late. So I'm collating binderfuls of stuff in the office while trying to explain the position to her, not letting her do any of the work (she was just there for an interview, you see), and trying to maintain polite smalltalk when the job descriptions ran out.

[livejournal.com profile] commodorified called me for a quick coffee. Agreed to meet her in ~10 minutes for a sanity break. Completely forgot about this until 20 minutes later. Went and found that she had bought the tea. Had a very fast lunch with her. I have good friends.

Got back to the office in time to get binders out by the Priority Post deadline. Contacted HR and Finance to make sure the new employee could show up tomorrow (we're hiring her. Did I mention she does travel? Thank freaking God), made sure nothing more was needed for the presentation at the Branch meeting, collected Finance documents, and was in late to the meeting (I'd warned them I would be) which then let out at 5:15. (Did not have much to do there but look alert. Spent a little time drafting one-paragraph responses for an RPG, actually.)

Neatened things up around the office (no longer have a 30-inch stack of binders on my desk, but still have two In Box piles and only one In Box), wept at the thought of needing to come in early tomorrow (because I do, so I can start training my replacement--everything that fell behind after the old replacement left *must* be done by Friday), and caught a ride home with a co-worker who lives in Kanata and was heading home just before 6:00.

I love you all, but be patient if I haven't seen much of you lately.
