Small updates
Jul. 30th, 2007 08:39 amThe continuing "Oh yes, we will minimize inconvenience by working on one room at a time--but currently every room and space but one[1] that we're working on is being worked on *at once*, and my, how *did* it come to pass that only two bedrooms and the bathroom of your apartment are clear and usable, you don't really need full access to the kitchen do you now?" has taken its toll. Realized on Sunday exactly how badly I'd been eating and sleeping over the last week. Measures have been taken.
========
Sovay--a cute little attention-sucking tortoiseshell that I am catsitting for Ian and Marna--bit me. (I wasn't doing anything besides petting; this is a behaviour thing they're trying to train her out of. She's bitten me before, but only in a housecat-proudly-tagging-the-human dent-the-skin kind of way. Never before with such gusto as to leave punctures deep enough to contain a pencil lead.) Cleaned it, and while I realize it's possible the redness and slight swelling is due to scraping and bruising, I am going to see the doctor anyway.
(Also catsitting Sunset. She continues to not bite me, look at me with those strange eyes, and allow me to pet her if I find her not sitting under the bed. Did I mention the not biting? Lovely cat.)

[1] The caulking around the wires in my bedroom was completed on the first day. Oh, yay. Everybody, wave your tiny little flag for the caulking.

Date: 2007-07-30 01:47 pm (UTC)The petting-biting can be annoying. Took me quite a while to get Wendigo to stop that ... and even now she still does it but it doesn't leave marks.

Date: 2007-07-30 05:35 pm (UTC)And, you know, we did spend a week or so earlier this month with everything out from under the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink (and its associated under-counter cupboards). But they never did any work during *that*. Waiting to find out if that's going to be done in this spate--
--did I say spate? I meant dribble--
--of work, or if they're coming back for it later.
Got a tetanus shot and ten days worth of antibiotic horse pills for the cat bite. Yay. :P

Date: 2007-07-30 06:31 pm (UTC)I know that with rats they even refuse to stich them because they're "disease carrying animals" and yaddy ya and the whole rat bite fever shtick. Got bitten only twice (and I deserved it, those were painful shots I was giving the lil sick rattie) and with a few flushes of betadine it didn't even get infected.

Date: 2007-07-30 07:44 pm (UTC)Was also advised to keep an eye on Sovey and make sure she doesn't start behaving in any way that might indicate rabies, but that I'm not particularly worried about.
(And damn, I was going to fill out my insurance application on Friday, and didn't get around to it... :P Oh well. Probably wouldn't've processed it by now anyway.)

Date: 2007-07-30 07:36 pm (UTC)No harm, no foul, left-not-right arm, plenty of antibiotics and modern medical care. Glad you are having fun.
*goes to fix Sovay's name*
