Monday, okay. I crashed really early on Saturday and Sunday--slept most of the weekend, in fact--so waking up ~2:00 and not being able to get back to sleep before a brief pre-ESD nap was kind of understandable.

Tuesday, fine. I started falling asleep early, crashed really hard, and woke up feeling like I'd had a really dense, compacted sleep--I do that sometimes, and I like it, that feeling of hitting deep sleep immediately and getting a full night's rest in three or four hours.

Wednesday, understandable. Again, relatively early sleep, had my head seriously wrapped around Will Eisner's death, woke up and worked on this until it was finished. Grabbed a three-hour nap in the morning since I'd gotten very little sleep--sleeping in the middle of the day, bad sign--kind of staggered around the rest of the day. Went to bed tired and later than usual.

But this is ridiculous.

There isn't a single day this week where I haven't seen 5:00 a.m. coming instead of going. I don't need this. I don't want this. I've run out of remedies outside the pharmaceutical (although when the milk thaws, I *will* be trying the warm milk theory again).

I want my cats to wake me up again, dammit, instead of the other way around.

Have you tried deep, slow breathing while lying flat on your back? Focus solely on the breathing and really feel the air entering and leaving your body.
