Passing it on from [livejournal.com profile] karnythia...

First, go read this post.

Then, for the Americans, there's a useful page about the Myths and this one with the medical guidelines. If you or anyone you know is willing to be tested? Please join the registry. Even you're not a match for this little girl you could be a match for someone else. If you're not willing or able to join the registry then please boost the signal. Tweet it. Repost it. Facebook it.

For the Canadians? The stem cell and marrow donation registry information is here and you can join here. Plus there's always straight-up blood or plasma donation, if you don't have an indefinite deferral--and please check, because I've heard some terrible misconceptions about that last.

Not eligible even if I was the rright nationality, but will signal-boost when home tomorrow.

Also, nice to see that Canada still believes that a single instance of protected sexual contact with another man is a higher risk for HIV transmission than a lifetime of unprotected heterosexual sex... *sigh* My country too. :(

I am already on the donor list for marrow and I have already been identified as a "runner up" in one case.

However, I will go to my local Red Cross and donate again, specifically to test in this case.

Many say they will do stuff but don't; however, this particular form of donation and identification strikes home for me. If I can help, I will.

It's time to refresh my file, anyway. Thank you for the incentive.
