Stupid cat.
May. 19th, 2005 12:18 amPrimarily for
iclysdale and
commodorified, for obvious reasons...
Toby is running a fever and throwing up, not that he really has anything to throw up except bile. He is currently at Boyd's on an IV drip and assorted antibiotics, and he's going to stay there until tomorrow evening at least[1]. I will call in tomorrow morning to find out how he's doing; if he's better or well, I will pick him up. If he's not, he will likely be staying there additional days. I don't think I'll need anything but your names and numbers for the vet if he has to stay; if I do, I'll call. (I'll probably call anyway at some point, but y'know. That'll be to stress, not to acquire information.)
I will just note in passing: he managed, with his usual exquisite timing, to get expensively sick in the exact same fortnight as my preplanned and cautiously budgeted trip to Ohio and points nearby, not to mention a planned excursion to Waterloo.
Stupid stupid stupid cat.
I want him to be alright now, please.

[1] For any of you who happen to need care for pets that take badly sick or get hurt after hours, I highly recommend the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital on Boyd Street. You'll need a car or taxi to get there, and there's an emergency fee before they'll look at your pet, but they are very good.

Date: 2005-05-19 03:45 pm (UTC)He's apparently stopped throwing up, and his fever's down. Vet is cautiously optimistic about me being able to take hiim home tonight.

Date: 2005-05-19 04:09 pm (UTC)Vet just called. Toby threw up again. Noticeably. (I believe the exact term was "a large episode of projectile vomiting". I *hate* it when vets sound worried over the phone.) If it happens once more, they're going to run diagnostics. And he's probably not coming home tonight.
*Stress.*

Date: 2005-05-19 04:20 pm (UTC)(Actually, this is pretty weird, but can you nag Brian to submit character concepts? I'd like something to get my mind off this for a little.)
Spoke to the receptionist. Payment by installment is available; 50% up-front, $2.50 per payment after that, 2% interest/month. I will need to crunch numbers and look at my credit card rate.
Meanwhile, my kitten is in the funny bad-smelling place, and I worry that he has *just* enough awareness to be wondering what was done wrong and why I've abandoned him.
...I am *never* having kids. All this and tuition too?
