Found out what was smelling of Miskatonic University. The bag with the last of the French Vanilla whole coffee beans[1] from Victoria had come open.

========

Apparently interests can't be more than four words long. Who knew?

========

Picked up several books at the Ex Libris upstairs sale, including a new copy of Danse Macabre (mine's tattery) and Ira Levin's Sliver.

========

Serger was being slightly difficult about sewing with silk thread, but it's cooperating now. I suspect it might just have been a rough patch on the spool.

========

Unfortunately, the Mayfair was apparently unable to get The Host in, and have replaced it with Hot Fuzz, which is not quite as interesting a prospect.

*nods* It is coming to me now that one of the great underappreciated wonders of Victoria was the DVD/video rental place down the block and around the corner, where you could pick up anything they had for $2. (There's one it Ottawa. It doesn't cost $2.)

I'm starting to wonder if relying more on Rue Morguw reviews means I'm getting older or just busier. :)

Speaking of DVDs, if you get a chance to check out The Lost Room (a six-hour miniseries), grab it. It's not exactly blatantly eldritch, but it's smart and engaging enough that John and I went through all six hours and had the DVDs returned fourteen hours after we rented it.

Wow, that is a good price. Since I worked at a video store for something like five years I'm still adjusting to having to, y'know, pay money for my movie rentals again. I need to sign up for my free trial of Netflix so that I can watch a bunch of weird old, obscure horror movies that I've been meaning to get around to watching. I'll add The Lost Room to the list.
