Clearing out old files (my god, did I ever think the G&S filk on trolls was new?), and ran across something I wrote back in early August of 1999, either the 9th or the 10th...

I saw the most beautiful woman at Barrymore's on Sunday... Not particularly tall, thinner than I usually consider pretty but with a sort of supple build rather than the angularity you normally see. Dark slacks and a pale blue-grey short-sleeved shirt that looked like one of those silk jerseys. Dark hair just a little longer than shoulder-length, held back by a kerchief tied over her head - not that fake pirate look, but a triangle of patterned blue cloth falling down the back of her head from the crown. Pale skin, delicate features, again not angular but with that delicate clean sweep. I thought of polished wood or marble, scrimshaw carvings. Watching her was like letting ice melt on your tongue in the summer heat and swallowing down cold water, like feeling the cool air rise up from the steel-coloured surface of the water. I don't want her, or even particularly want to be around her, but I would love to see her walking down the bridge just before the Mayfair at that point of twilight when the colours grow muted and the shapes remain sharp and the lights of the buildings are lambent in the dusk, would love to watch her moving cool and graceful through the gloaming of the city.

I've started writing again.

I think I've found a decent description for WHN. Now I just need a name to go with it...

pokes randomly at dictionaries for a few moments, looking for linguisitic origins and synonyms of water. runs across:

v. wa·tered, wa·ter·ing, wa·ters
v. tr.
3. To dilute or weaken by adding water: a bar serving whiskey that had been watered.

Whisk. Very good.
